Albert Renold Travel Fellowships for Young Scientists
These Fellowships are available throughout the year.
There is no deadline for submission.
The Albert Renold Travel
Fellowships for Young Scientists will enable young scientists to travel to and
to stay
at other institutions in another country in order to learn different scientific techniques related
to diabetes research. Either the home or the host institution must be based in
Europe or an associated country. The
duration of the stay cannot exceed 3 months. Each Fellowship will be for up
to Euro 7,000. The EFSD Albert Renold Fellowship Programme is supported by
an unrestricted educational grant from Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD).
The following
regulations will apply:
Applications may be made by any
paid-up member of EASD under the age of 35 years (PhD) or 40 years (MD/PhD
with clinical training) on 1 January in the year the Fellowship is awarded.
All applicants must be
employed at a
non-profit institution and the fellowship must be performed at such a place
of work.
Applications must be received a
minimum of 6 weeks before the date of proposed travel.
Applicants
must travel to an institution not in their country for their fellowship
placement.
The funds must be transferred into the European
institution.
Successful applicants must travel
within 9 months of receipt of the Award. If this is not possible, special dispensation from this regulation
must be sought.
Awardees will be expected to
provide a written report and confirmation of stay from the host institution
on return to the home institution.
